ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE releases on October 2, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam). If you’re in the Americas you actually start flying on the evening of October 1, at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET — the same instant, printed on a different calendar. That time is the one Sony published for PS5; Bandai Namco has not separately stated Steam or Xbox unlock times.
That one detail explains the two dates you’ve seen. Bandai Namco’s own newsroom says October 2. Steam and the US PlayStation Store both display October 1. Neither is wrong, and there was never a date change.
Why the publisher says October 2 and Steam says October 1
The publisher’s date is the canonical one. Bandai Namco’s official ACES WEB post announces an October 2nd, 2026 release, and Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe published the same date on June 3, 2026. The European game page renders it in local format as 02/10/2026.
The storefronts are not advertising an earlier release. They’re showing the moment the game unlocks, converted into a US time zone. PlayStation.Blog — which broke the date one day earlier, on June 2, 2026, under a headline announcing a global October 2 launch on PS5 — states the moment directly: October 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET, which is October 2 at 12:00 AM CEST and October 2 at 7:00 AM JST.
That works out to 22:00 UTC. In Los Angeles it falls on October 1. In Berlin and Tokyo it falls on October 2. A single simultaneous worldwide unlock is the pattern implied by every source; none describes staggered per-region street dates.
Here’s what each storefront actually prints:
| Where you’re looking | Date shown |
|---|---|
| Bandai Namco ACES WEB (official) | October 2, 2026 |
| Bandai Namco Europe game page | 02/10/2026 |
| Bandai Namco Store America (Joker Flight Pack) | October 2, 2026 |
| Bandai Namco Store Europe (PC Premium pack) | 2nd Oct 2026 |
| Steam store page and appdetails API | Oct 1, 2026 |
| PlayStation Store (US) | 10/1/2026 |
| Xbox Store, Deluxe Edition Pre-Order | 9/28/2026 (this is the early-access date) |
| Xbox Store, Standard Edition | No release date shown |
The Xbox Deluxe listing is the one most likely to mislead you. 9/28/2026 is not a fourth release date — it is the day that specific SKU literally becomes playable, three days ahead of everyone else.
Regional unlock times
Only four rows below come from a first-party-adjacent source. PlayStation.Blog states the Pacific, Eastern, Central European and Japanese times; everything else is a secondary outlet’s conversion from the same 22:00 UTC anchor, and Bandai Namco has published no regional unlock map.
| Region | Local unlock time | Status |
|---|---|---|
| US Pacific (PT) | October 1, 3:00 PM | Stated by PlayStation.Blog |
| US Eastern (ET) | October 1, 6:00 PM | Stated by PlayStation.Blog |
| Central Europe (CEST) | October 2, 12:00 AM | Stated by PlayStation.Blog |
| Japan (JST) | October 2, 7:00 AM | Stated by PlayStation.Blog |
| Brazil | October 1, 7:00 PM | Unconfirmed — reported by Game8 |
| UK | October 1, 11:00 PM | Unconfirmed — reported by Game8 |
| Australia (East) | October 2, 8:00 AM | Unconfirmed — reported by Game8 |
| New Zealand | October 2, 12:00 PM | Unconfirmed, and does not add up |
That last row deserves a flag, because the Game8 table it comes from has been copied widely. A 22:00 UTC unlock does not produce noon on October 2 in New Zealand, so either the row is an error or it reflects something no publisher has stated. Game8 itself notes that exact Steam and Xbox release times have yet to be announced, which is the honest position: the 3:00 PM PT figure is a PlayStation statement. It is reasonable to expect Steam and Xbox to match a 22:00 UTC global unlock, but no first-party source has confirmed those two platforms’ times.
Deluxe Edition early access: three days, from September 28
The second date that matters is September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM PDT, when digital Deluxe Edition ($89.99) owners get in three days ahead of the standard launch. This one is unusually well documented — both the Xbox Store’s Deluxe Pre-Order page and PlayStation.Blog give the identical date and time.
You’ll also see September 29 attached to the same benefit, and it caused the same confusion as the launch date. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe’s press post lists early access as September 29, 2026 for Digital Deluxe holders. These are not competing claims. September 28 at 3:00 PM PDT is 22:00 UTC, which is September 29 at 12:00 AM CEST — the exact same instant, expressed in European calendar terms.
| Source | How it’s worded |
|---|---|
| PlayStation.Blog | September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM PDT |
| Xbox Store (Deluxe Pre-Order) | September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM (PDT) |
| Bandai Namco Europe press post | September 29, 2026, Digital Deluxe holders only |
| Steam (Standard Edition box) | Advance Access starts 28 Sep |
| Game8 (secondary) | September 28, 2026, 10:00 PM UTC |
Note the Steam wording carefully. The advance-access line appears on the Standard Edition box as a product-level countdown, but the Standard Edition does not include early access — the three-day bullet appears only in the Deluxe contents list.
Early access is digital-only, and physical buyers should read the fine print
Bandai Namco Europe’s shop page states the Deluxe benefit as three days early, exclusively with digital versions. That matters if you preordered a box.
Bandai Namco Store America’s Deluxe and Joker Flight Pack pages both warn that the early-access duration cannot be guaranteed, and that actual delivery may vary by location and shipping method. The European PC Premium Joker Flight Pack handles it differently because it’s a download code: that page says the game key becomes available in your Bandai Namco account three days before the release date.
Still not announced
Three things are genuinely open, and you should be suspicious of any page that states them:
| Detail | Status as of late August 2026 |
|---|---|
| Preload window and size | Not published by Bandai Namco or any storefront |
| Review embargo date | No source states one |
| Exact Steam and Xbox unlock times | Not officially published; expected to match the 22:00 UTC unlock |
The date has not moved
Ace Combat 8 was revealed in December 2025 with a 2026 window and given its October 2, 2026 date on June 2–3, 2026. That date has held ever since, with no delays and no date changes, and preorders opened alongside the announcement on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
We’ll update this page when Bandai Namco publishes preload details, an embargo date, or platform-specific unlock times for Steam and Xbox.
Frequently asked questions
When does Ace Combat 8 come out?
October 2, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam), per Bandai Namco's official newsroom. In the Americas that lands on the evening of October 1: PlayStation.Blog gives a PS5 unlock of October 1 at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET, and Steam and Xbox are expected — though not officially confirmed — to match it.
Why does Steam say Ace Combat 8 releases October 1?
Steam and the US PlayStation Store are displaying the unlock moment in a US time zone, not a different release date. The unlock moment is 3:00 PM Pacific on October 1, which is already October 2 in Central Europe and Japan.
What time does Ace Combat 8 unlock?
PlayStation.Blog gives October 1 at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET, which is October 2 at 12:00 AM CEST and 7:00 AM JST — a 22:00 UTC unlock. Bandai Namco has not separately published exact Steam or Xbox unlock times.
How do I play Ace Combat 8 early?
Buy the digital Deluxe Edition ($89.99). It grants three days of early access starting September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM PDT, published by both the Xbox Store and PlayStation.Blog. Early access is digital-only.
Is there a preload for Ace Combat 8?
No preload window has been published by Bandai Namco or by any storefront as of late August 2026. Treat any specific preload date you see elsewhere as unconfirmed.
