Control Resonant Release Date: Digital vs Physical
CONTROL Resonant launches digitally September 24, 2026, but the physical disc slipped to October 15. Unlock times, preload and the NZ footnote.

CONTROL Resonant has two release dates, not one. The digital version holds September 24, 2026 worldwide, exactly as announced in June — but the physical disc release moved to October 15, 2026, three weeks later. If you preordered a disc, September 24 is not your date.
That split is recent, and the storefronts themselves still show the single September date. Here is what is confirmed, what is only reported, and what Remedy has genuinely not said.
The two dates
| Version | Date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Digital (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic, GeForce NOW) | September 24, 2026 | Unchanged since the June 2 announcement |
| PS5 Digital Deluxe (48-hour advance access) | September 22, 2026 | Listed on the PlayStation Store SKU |
| Physical disc | October 15, 2026 | Moved on August 18, 2026 |
| Mac (Steam + Mac App Store) | “Later in 2026” | No date ever given |
The base price is $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99, and it is the same for digital and physical standard editions.
Where the October 15 date actually came from
This is worth being precise about, because the sourcing is unusual.
On August 18, 2026, Remedy announced two things at once: that CONTROL Resonant had gone gold, and that the physical release date had moved to October 15. The digital date was explicitly reaffirmed as September 24 in the same message.
The announcement was made through Remedy’s official @ControlRemedy account on X. It is not on the remedygames.com newsroom. A check of Remedy’s news index on August 25 turned up no August 2026 entries at all — the most recent article there is still “CONTROL Resonant Launches Worldwide on September 24,” dated June 2. So the correct way to describe this date is: announced by Remedy through its official social channel, and reported by multiple outlets on August 18, but not documented in a press release.
Two of those outlets reproduce the post with slightly different phrasing and punctuation. Both agree on the substance — gone gold, digital September 24, physical October 15 — so treat the dates as solid and the exact wording as unverified. The gist of Remedy’s explanation is that it needs a little more time to deliver the physical version. No reason beyond that was given, and Remedy did not report any problem with the finished build. Going gold and delaying the disc in the same breath is the shape of a manufacturing or distribution issue rather than a development one, but Remedy has not said so.
What the delay does not tell you
Three questions a disc buyer will have that currently have no published answer:
| Question | Status |
|---|---|
| Does October 15 cover both the Standard disc and the SteelBook Edition? | Not stated. Remedy’s post referred to “the physical release date for the game” without breaking it out by SKU. |
| Does the delay apply in every territory? | Not stated in any source. |
| Do existing retail preorders carry over automatically, or need re-placing? | No guidance published, and no goodwill gesture to disc buyers has been announced. |
One more practical note: the storefronts had not caught up as of August 25. The PlayStation Store and Xbox listings still display 9/24/2026 — but those are digital SKUs, so that display is correct for what they sell. Do not read an unchanged store page as evidence the disc date reverted.
Unlock time: 14:00 UTC, worldwide at once
Unusually for a page like this, the console unlock time is not guesswork. Both console storefronts publish a release timestamp of 14:00 UTC on September 24, 2026 in their own product data — the PlayStation Store standard SKU carries a 2026-09-24T14:00:00Z release date, and the Xbox listing carries the same timestamp, with its preorder window closing one second before it.
That means a single simultaneous worldwide go-live, not a per-region local-midnight rollout.
| Region | Local unlock time, September 24 |
|---|---|
| US West Coast (PDT) | 7:00 AM |
| US East Coast (EDT) | 10:00 AM |
| UK (BST) | 15:00 |
| Central Europe (CEST) | 16:00 |
Two caveats. First, Remedy itself has never stated an unlock time — this comes from the storefronts, not from the studio. Second, the PC unlock time is not published. Steam’s data returns only the date string “Sep 24, 2026” with no time attached, and no Epic timing has been announced. PC players should not assume 14:00 UTC applies to them.
New Zealand is September 25 — on PlayStation
PlayStation.Blog’s June 2 post carries a footnote stating that the New Zealand release date is September 25. That footnote is Sony’s, it appears in a post about the PS5 launch, and it has not been repeated by Remedy or extended to any other storefront.
So: the NZ date is confirmed for PlayStation. Whether Steam, Epic or Xbox in New Zealand also move to the 25th is unstated anywhere. If you are in NZ and buying on PC, there is currently no published answer.
Early access: PS5 Digital Deluxe only
The earliest anyone plays legitimately is September 22, 2026, on PS5 with the Digital Deluxe Edition. The PlayStation Store lists that SKU’s own release date as September 22 and spells out “48 hour early access starting 22nd September 2026.” PlayStation.Blog describes it as 48 hours of advance access.
This is a PlayStation-only entitlement. The June press release lists the PS5 Deluxe as a separate “PlayStation – Exclusive” line, and — the useful confirmation — the Steam and Xbox Digital Deluxe contents lists contain no early-access line at all. Deluxe buyers on Steam, Epic and Xbox start on September 24 alongside standard buyers, for the same $69.99.
Preload and review embargo: nothing announced
No preload window has been announced on any platform. Nothing on Steam, the PlayStation Store listings, the Xbox listings or Remedy’s newsroom as of August 25. For planning purposes, Steam’s spec sheet lists a 100 GB storage requirement at both minimum and recommended — though that sheet is still provisional (it carries “Sound Card: TBD” on both tiers), so treat the figure as the current listing rather than a final one. Console install sizes have not been published.
No review embargo date has been publicly confirmed either. The only related datapoint is that the hands-on preview embargo lifted around June 17, 2026 — a different thing, and not a basis for predicting when reviews land.
Platforms at launch
Remedy’s launch platform list is PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW — cloud streaming is supported from day one, not added later. Mac follows later in 2026 via Steam and the Mac App Store, with no month, no window and no Mac system requirements published; that has been the wording since the December 2025 reveal.
How the date got here
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| December 12, 2025 | Revealed with a “2026” window only |
| February 13, 2026 | Still “scheduled to be released in 2026” in Remedy’s own release |
| June 2, 2026 | September 24, 2026 locked in; preorders open for digital and physical |
| August 18, 2026 | Gone gold; physical moves to October 15, digital unchanged |
That August 18 move is the only date change in the game’s history, and it affects discs only. Separately, a new trailer was scheduled for Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 — if any launch-timing detail changed there, we will update this page.
