Halloween: The Game has four editions, $39.99 to $149.99. Only Digital Deluxe plays four days early — and only one preorder bonus is a real exclusive.

Halloween: The Game ships in four editions: two digital on September 8, 2026, and two physical on October 6. Only the $59.99 Digital Deluxe lets you play early — Friday, September 4 at 9 AM PT — and only one bonus in the entire product family, the Phantom Michael Myers skin, is a stated permanent exclusive. Every other cosmetic is either one IllFonic has explicitly labelled an early unlock, or one whose future availability has never been addressed.

On the UK PlayStation Store the digital editions read £34.99 standard and £49.99 Deluxe. There is no physical PC release — discs are PS5 and Xbox Series X only, and they arrive four weeks after the digital launch.

The Phantom skin is the only true exclusive
Every digital pre-order — standard or Deluxe — includes the Phantom Michael Myers skin, and it is the one item IllFonic has committed to. The official wording: “The Phantom Michael Myers skin is a Digital Pre-Order Exclusive and will not be available to purchase after launch.”
Read that sentence precisely: it forecloses a future store sale, but it doesn’t promise the skin will never be granted through, say, an event. Naming also varies by storefront — the Xbox add-on listing (“Halloween: Pre-Order Content”) calls it the “Exclusive Phantom Michael Myers Skin,” while PlayStation’s standard listing says only “Exclusive Michael Myers Skin.”
Whether the physical editions include the Phantom skin has not been confirmed. The physical editions page doesn’t mention it, and the skin is described as a Digital Pre-Order Exclusive — but no first-party sentence states outright that disc buyers are excluded.
Digital Deluxe: the only playable head start
The $20 premium buys one thing no other edition offers at any price: four extra days of the actual game. IllFonic’s wording is “Early Access for Halloween: The Game begins on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 9 AM PT.” Steam is blunter: “Pre-Purchase this edition and play the game starting 4 days ahead of full release.” Xbox’s Deluxe listing says “Advance Access on September 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time,” and the US PlayStation Store lists that SKU at 04:00 PM UTC on 9/4/2026 — the same moment. (The UK PlayStation Store’s concept page shows both editions at 8 September and doesn’t surface the separate 4 September Deluxe date.)
Two things people get wrong here:
- Standard-edition pre-orders do not include the head start. Pre-ordering earns you the Phantom skin, nothing more.
- The head start is an early unlock of the whole game, not bonus content. Nothing about it is exclusive; it’s four days.
The Deluxe cosmetics are murkier. The Inmate Michael Myers skin and civilians Richard and Alexis are labelled “Exclusive,” but unlike the Phantom skin, no first-party statement addresses whether they’ll ever be sold separately — treat their permanence as unknown. “And More Surprises!” is genuinely unrevealed.
If you buy standard and regret it: on Xbox the Deluxe Edition is assembled from three components — the base game, the pre-order content, and a “Halloween: Digital Deluxe Upgrade” — so a standalone upgrade SKU exists for standard owners.
Three different things are called “early access”
This is the most confusing part of the product family.

A Clown skin marked “(Advance Access)” does not let you play sooner, and the Deluxe head start is not a cosmetic. Same phrase, three meanings.
Physical editions: cosmetics unlock early, nothing unlocks the game
Both discs land October 6, 2026, four weeks after digital, on PS5 and Xbox Series X. No physical edition grants a playable head start — physical buyers start a month behind Deluxe owners, not ahead of anyone.
And every cosmetic in both boxes carries IllFonic’s own “(Advance Access)” tag. This is the only place in the entire product family where the publisher explicitly marks a cosmetic as an early unlock, which makes the implication clear: the Clown skin, the Samhain skin and the civilian cosmetics are coming to everyone eventually. How long that exclusivity window lasts, and how those items later reach other players, has not been announced. Don’t buy the box expecting a permanent flex.
What the $149.99 Collector’s Edition uniquely gets you is physical goods: the exclusive lenticular art and the Shape Jump Variant Action Figure — reported to be made by Trick or Treat Studios, though the official page names the figure and not its manufacturer. The “Exclusive Halloween Poster” is not one of them: it is listed in both physical editions. The Samhain skin is the one cosmetic appearing in no other tier. Distribution is reported to be handled by Nighthawk Interactive, and IllFonic has named no retailers: the official page says only that pre-orders are “available through select retailers.”
No season pass — but in-game purchases are confirmed
No battle pass, season pass, paid DLC or post-launch roadmap has been announced, and Steam listed no DLC attached to the game. That is not the same as “no monetization”: in-game purchases are flagged first-party on all three storefronts — Steam’s ESRB interactive elements list “In-Game Purchases,” PlayStation lists “In-game purchases optional,” and Xbox carries “InAppPurchase” notices. Something is sold in-game; its shape has not been described.
Australia and New Zealand
Halloween: The Game was Refused Classification in Australia in August 2026 and IllFonic has announced no relief, so neither format is available there. New Zealand was reversed to digital-only in mid-August: the September 8 digital release goes ahead, but the physical editions remain unavailable.
Which edition should you buy?
- Launch night, nothing more: Digital Standard, $39.99 — pre-order and the Phantom skin is yours.
- You want to play September 4: Digital Deluxe, $59.99. It’s the only route; the cosmetics are secondary.
- You want a disc: Physical Standard, $39.99 MSRP — but you wait until October 6, and its cosmetics aren’t permanent exclusives.
- You want the figure and the art: Physical Collector’s, $149.99. Buy it for the physical goods, not the skins.
On the fence about the game itself? Skip the pre-order: you forfeit only the Phantom skin, and player impressions will be public from September 4, four days before you’d have to commit.
