Phantom Blade Zero Release Date & Unlock Time

Phantom Blade Zero releases on October 29, 2026 at 02:00 UTC, simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Development is finished — S-GAME confirmed the game had gone gold when preorders opened on August 11.

If you’ve seen two different dates quoted, that’s not a mistake by either store. Here’s what’s actually happening.

The October 28 vs October 29 confusion, settled

S-GAME’s own site and the PlayStation Store listing both say a flat October 29. Steam’s store page says October 28. Both are correct, because they’re describing the same instant in different time zones.

The PlayStation Store publishes an exact unlock stamp: 02:00 UTC on October 29. That moment is 7:00 PM Pacific on October 28 — which is how Steam renders it for US users. By both storefronts’ own timestamps, that’s one global unlock, not a staggered rollout.

Steam and Epic haven’t published unlock times of their own, so treat the 02:00 UTC figure as the reference point until they do.

Sony’s own wording picked up an asterisk on August 17. The PlayStation.Blog recap of the State of Play — published August 17 and bylined S-GAME founder and CEO Soulframe Liang — says the game “is set to release on October 29*”, with the footnote “*October 28 in the US and select regions”. That asterisk is new: Sony’s August 11 preorder post stated October 29 flatly, with no qualifier. Sony gives no reason for the split. The footnote is also appended to a sentence scoped to PlayStation 5, so whether it applies to the PC versions is not established there.

Set against that, S-GAME’s own site and the PlayStation Store listing still show a flat 10/29/2026, and most outlets reported October 29 globally. Steam shows “Oct 28, 2026” in every storefront region tested rather than only the US — consistent with Sony’s footnote, but not independent proof of a US-specific carve-out. The time-zone rollover above is the widely reported explanation for the split, though Sony hasn’t confirmed it. Until S-GAME clarifies, treat October 28 as a US-timezone storefront unlock rather than a separate ship date.

Platforms: PS5 console exclusive, PC day one

Phantom Blade Zero launches on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on the same day. There is no Xbox or Switch 2 version.

The exclusivity detail matters and is often reported sloppily: Sony’s trailer disclaimer reads “PS5 console exclusive. Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 12 months after release date.” In other words, PC is not part of the exclusivity window — only other consoles are locked out, and only for at least a year.

The 50-day delay

The game was originally dated September 9, 2026. S-GAME announced the move to October 29 in June, a slip of 50 days.

Director Soulframe Liang explained the reason directly: the team “upgraded a number of character models and reworked many environments across the game,” and spent extra effort “preserving as much of this visual impact as possible even without relying on ray tracing” — so that the game’s look holds up for players without high-end RTX hardware.

What’s still unannounced

Two things people ask about that genuinely have no answer yet:

• Preload — no date or time announced on any of the three storefronts.
• Review embargo — not announced, so it’s unclear how much reviewers will publish before launch day.

What’s next before launch

The dedicated Phantom Blade Zero State of Play aired on August 17, 2026 at 7:00 PM PT — roughly 20 minutes of gameplay and cutscenes, closing with a short trailer that highlighted PS5 features like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and 3D audio. It covered the Wulin world, weapons and build-making, difficulty options and side quests, and reconfirmed Donnie Yen as creative consultant and as the face and motion-capture performer for Soul’s father Mó Yuan.

For release timing specifically, the show changed one thing and one thing only: the October 28 asterisk above. No preload date, no review embargo and no demo were mentioned — the demo that leaked as a PlayStation Store listing the week before was neither announced nor ruled out. No further showcase has been announced, so the two unknowns above are the next things to watch, and we’ll update this page as details land.
